  1. What are cookies?

A cookie is a very small text document stored on your computer, and often includes a randomized unique identifier so that our Websites can ‘recognize’ this cookie again. They are used to provide functionality such as remembering preferences, logging a user in, or providing information to the owners of websites, such as audience measurement. Such data allows the improvement of ergonomics and services according to your interests.

Generally-speaking, we use 1st and 3rd-party session and persistent cookies. The cookies set by us are called “1st-party cookies” and the cookies set by our third-party partners and service providers are called “3rd-party cookies” . For example, the Websites can contain third party social media cookies that may track your activities on the Websites to show you personalized ads on their platforms subsequently.

Session cookies are temporary cookies that typically remain on your device until you close your web browser. However, their behaviour can vary depending on browser and system settings. For example, some browsers may restore session cookies if configured to reopen previous sessions, and certain systems settings or extensions might alter how cookies are handled. Therefore, we recommend that you review your browser and system settings. Many session cookies are essential to make our Websites work correctly, such as by allowing you to access members-only content.

Persistent cookies remain on your device after you close your browser or until you manually delete it (for the former, how long the cookie remains on your device will depend on the duration or “lifetime” of the specific cookie and your browser settings). Persistent cookies help us recognize you as an existing user of our Websites, so it is easier and convenient to return to our Websites or interact with our Services without signing in again. In addition, persistent cookies also help us recognize you when you view a resource belonging to our Websites from another website or app (such as an advertisement) and help us record information about your web browsing habits during the lifetime of the persistent cookie.
